i think, the present is from chapters 1-46. Look at chapter 45, it was stated there that Jian Yi suddenly disappeared and he became "like that"
so these chapters that we have been reading were all in the past?!

Yeah chs 1-50 and some extras (like the valentines and Christmas) are them in the future so them during college (Jian Yi is still in high school bc he disappeared during high school) and the rest are the current timeline which is of them in their last year of middle school
Chs 1-50 are future chs of them in college (Jian Yi being in high school still bc he disappeared during high school) in ch 43 they explain how on the second day of high school Jian Yi disappeared (probably due to the ppl that keep chasing him) and when the rest of them were in college he appeared again at Xi’s doorstep and starting from ch 51 it’s the current timeline which is of them in middle school (but there’s some extra chs here and there of them in the future like during Christmas and Valentine’s Day)
.. I just reread the future chs and I just now realized that both Jian Yi and He Tian disappear or leave and they don’t see the others until college (since they’re in middle school rn) imma go cry real quick
