Ugh I hate ppl who say that penetrating will make a man less manly, I mean this it the most offensive thing you could say to a gay man, especially if you just fucked him. and to think he's gay himself... There's nothing wrong with wanting to try being on the other side, and if his main argument for not going along with his partner is that it hurts(well he didn't even loosen him up properly so his technique sucks) and that it makes a man less a man then he is trash.
