i think there is a misunderstanding there. i believe they were referring to the actions they took after the trauma, so, "the path they went". the emperor's trauma included the abuse and murdering his own mother i believe. i didnt read their comment as trivializing any of their hardships :)! i agree trauma is trauma, theres no competition or belittling people's experiences.

I didn’t mean it that way. I meant that the Emperor didn’t choose the path Rose went into and turn into some sucker of power. They both have pasts but the Emperor did not became a villain like Rose who kills for her own desires.
I kinda like Rosamund yes, ofc she's a villainess but she's like that bcs she has never received any proper love or affection from anyone after the trauma she has
