I mean, it's sort of like the native Americans. Their ancestors were important to them, it was their way of showing respect. They have too many attachments to leave. Even if they did what could they even take? They weren't really going to be better off tbh.
I'm not saying that it isn't important but if there's certain death by staying then who's going to remember their ancestors??? And unlike native Americans they aren't actively being killed, they just don't want to leave. The don't need to bring everyone anyway. Just the young couples and children and anyone else who want to come. They move away for a couple of years, growing the population and then come back if things settle down. If not, at least they are alive

Haha sorry true. It just really irked me that they'd be willing to let a literal baby starve. Even if they survive that baby is motherless for reasons that are just... Not worth that many lives to say the least

Even if they left there was no guarantee that they would survive. They would have to either have money to buy land to start over again or on their journey, they could be captured as slaves, killed and raped by bandits, or killed by wild animals.
My sympathy evaporated when they said "yup let's let innocent babies and children die bc we don't wanna move" I cba that's disgusting.
