And the scene where he said he can make Gabriel rollover with lust with a flick of his finger in public
I think this explains quite a bit
Plus once Gabriel wolf blood was awakening he pretty much shouted it hurts during sex before Sailou barged in
Yes Paolo can control people but we have seen that he usually have full control over them.
For example, Paolo did mention something along the way "shoukd i bite him to have full control over him" when they fucked in a car.
Also it is clear as day that Gabriel's mind isn't controlled. For example in the tree scene, he wanted the other priest to stop them. And Paolo did tell Gabriel he'll go away if Gabriel ask him.to stop. But Gabriel didnt. AND YET he is able to say stop after he cum. So clearly theres something wrong here.
Also what would be the point of Paolo taking the appearancd of Saliou if he controls Gabriel already?
Point is, it's like in between being controlled and Ganriel wanting it but feeling guilty about it.
Also, Gabriel rejected the help of vampire hunters, and yet later he accepted it. And there was no change regarding Paolo's control over Gabriel.
It doesnt make sense to say "he cant do this because he is mentally controlled but he can still do these other stuff"
Why can he say "stop" after cumming but not before ? Why can he wish for Domingo to stop him and seek for help but can't tell Paolo he dont want to? Why is he suddenly pushing the hunters away and then working with them when Saliou is back.
As i said earlier, it seems to jump between both and its not explained properly because the author wants to MC to want the sex BUT still try to make it look like he doesnt want to.

And also when Paolo took the appearance of Sailou I don't think he knows what Gabriel sees since it's mentioned that Paolo can't read minds
For the vampire hunters I really don't understand Gabriel's motivation
Maybe he didn't believe at first buh I jx think it's bad writing
Meanwhile Gabriel was pretty much banging the vampire the 1st half of the story.
It is really irritating that we weren't told if Paolo really had mind control over Gabriel or if the extent of it. It should have been clear, either Gabriel feels guilty but cant reject the lust he kept inside all his life OR he had no choice and was brainwashed. But instead the story doesnt gets into that that matters and jumps between the both.
