That's not what I said at all. He needs to take responsibility for his actions. In my original comment I even said "Me feeling sorry for him doesn't mean I forgive him, both hatred and pity can exist at the same time."
You can have multiple feelings about someone. It may be easy to just only hate them and not try to view them as a complex character.
Clearly he has some issues, and that's what I think is pitiful. What I want is for him to have a redemption arc and for us to see why he became so competitive.
Furthermore, he did not kill her spirit, and second of all, no one knows about spirits. That's her entire story. She's being constantly overlooked because no one knows anything about spirits or what they do.
All I am saying is I feel bad for him - that does not mean I am not mad at him. I want him to have a redemption arc and to be more than just a one dimensional guy people can easily hate.
is it just me or does anyone else feel bad for him? i mean he was still a teenager at that time, and his family's clearly competitive to a fault. no child should be forced to grow into apathy and complete devotion to their king and become a murder machine. he'll probably just be sent off to war and murdered. i just hope he has a redemption arc. he didn't even know what spirits are or anything. obviously me feeling sorry for him doesn't mean i forgive him, both hatred and pity can exist at the same time. i just hope we get some backstory and he isn't made to be one-dimensional.
