Kind of a rant. More like reflections on lost potential

This story.... had the potential but somehow it’s been lost and just left an empty, kinda disgusted feeling after reading it.
I wanted to see something like the main character slowly start to reverse manipulate the therapist, to use his apparent weakness and push and pull behavior to snare him in a web of sorts. Let the therapist thinks he’s in control while he slowly gains the upper hand or something.
I wanted to see him gain real confidence and start to use it again his brother and college bullies, to become seductive and manipulative. That’s the victorious psycho route I wanted to see.
The good route would be, of course, for him to find real help and become independent of his father and far away from all the people in his house. It would be great for it to happen too.
But what I’m seeing is..... MC still just hates himself and lives by the will of others. The feeling of “liberation” is ironic because he’s not free at all, he’s right in the palm of the therapists hand, still is just doing pretty much everything the doctor wants — I feel like whatever he asks of MC, MC would happily do no matter how disturbing — and now the brother is probably gonna join in the porn. Oh well. Not the character development I wanted of this psychological one. No matter if on the psycho or the good route, all I wanted was for him to gain control of his own life and triumph all over these horrible people.
