She kinda right incest has been going on all over the world for thousands of years. in the era of this book incest is actually really common. Incest probably stopped becoming normal in the 1700s or 1800s. so not that far away.

Yes, it is a big deal. Not accepting incest is not about being ignorant. Yes, it is still evident in some cultures, but there is a reason why there has been a HUGE decrease since the olden days (For ex., long ago marrying within families were common to continue the bloodline & convenience). However, it has led to a huge decrease not only because there is no longer a need to retain the purity of a bloodline, but also because of the physiological and biological repercussions of committing incest. There have been many studies on this and one of the obvious ones is the increase in inheriting genetic diseases due to two recessive genes getting together, which is why sickness and extra ligaments is common in most Amish cultures. Also, we humans have an extremely unique brain that needs groupings (ex. family) and organization, or we will easily fall into mental chaos. There has been many studies again on the falling apart of these groups (ex. incest, parent living, parent dying, child dying, etc.) and how it affects us. And the majority results haven't been good; most people who don't have secure authority figures usually struggle in some way in the future. For ex., I have never met my birth father, and my step parents are literal bitches. I now have social anxiety and trust issues, which is wonderful. Anyway, sorry for making this so long, I sort of study in this field (history and biology) so I know a bit.

I see thats actually very informative but as i was saying, its really not a big deal at all, incest will always exist so long as other people conform to their cultural practices. We really cant do anything about it even if you say it is biologically radical. It is like saying "jesus is the real deal, you atheist should convert to Catholicism". The system does not work like that. Reason why its not a big deal because it has been existing to some primitive individuals, we are just not used to it w/c is why we find it disturbing but not to the point of making it a big deal because to some folks, they find it normal and standardized. People believing incest is taboo for them (like how most of the world feels -> its literally considered a global taboo) is not being ignorant. But for you, I will give some examples about how ignorant should be used: People are being ignorant if they believe that BLM is just a movement. People are being ignorant if they believe women have equality currently. But i don't care about what you believe in because i believe that you have the right to believe in what you want. However, don't call out other people because they believe in different things than you. So you better get off your phone, blow off some steam, and come back when YOU'RE ready since you don't seem to be able to handle critical criticism. As a matter of fact, nothing is wrong with being IGNORANT, since you are open to a lot of possible answers and judgment, in quest for knowledge. Using the word IGNORANT applies to various situation. Lets say i was ignorant at how incest is considered as a global taboo (although i already acknowledge that it is morally wrong in my first reply????) And they were also being IGNORANT of the fact that it is existing throughout primitive cultural practices (in which we should consider throwing judgement on them, since we dont experience it.) IGNORANT literally means having lack of knowledge about a certain topic. You can believe in what you want and defend what you want and we both know incest still exists and there's nothing we can do about it since it's their choice. They have their beliefs about it and so do you. Some people, like me, grew up thinking incest is bad, now I'm indifferent since I've seen many love stories (from the past through archeology and currently) that have many different shapes and forms (including incest) so I don't mind, but I do know the physiological and biological consequences of it so I would recommend against it.
