The Baroness destroyed the letter from Kate’s mom which has a list of people that was supposed to be her guardian or relative
Time flows differently for elves than it does for humans since they live a very long time....Enoch said that he was away and by the time he came back, he couldn't find Kate anymore (which would mean that Kate and Beth didn't know how to contact him either). He only found her now...finally!
I came back to the story after a while but why was Kate ever working as a maid if she has a rich elf benefactor?
