Idk my theory is that it's Duke Ergy's baby since he's around her all the time. Ergy probably made a whole scheme up and convinced Trashta to pretend it was the Emperor's baby. Trashta can be cunning but we all know she's dumb and a coward. Or while Ergy was pretending to be close with her, they got a little too close if you know what I mean. Not saying this happened, that's just a theory.
I've read spoilers on here and skimmed through the novel a little bit to know this. But honestly, how likely is it that Navier and Sovieshu went without a kid for years and then all it takes is maybe a year or so for Trashta to get pregnant? It just doesn't make sense in general. Then Navier gets pregnant with someone else? Yea, I think it's just him that's the problem.
I don't think the Duke would sleep with her because I think he is on Heinley's side and wouldn't go that far with her.
Honestly I don't either but he's the best bet considering Trashta has virtually no one around her, or nobody who could or would impregnate her at least. UNLESSSS she was already pregnant with her second baby with the son of the count when the Emperor found her. That's another possibility. But I know for sure that it isn't Sovieshu's bc there's a whole big ole conflict about it and he leaves her.
