Outside of some developed 1st world countries it's as good as death. The children are malnourished and left to die of starvation. If they survive then they're secretly sold in prostitution or child labour, many a times in hazardous environments like mines and factories. And there they end up getting involved in drugs and criminal activities. It's a fast and secure route to hell.
