Well, she only introduced Ashley first cause the person she was introducing them to was someone involved with the royal family, and she believes Ashley is Cinderella. Hence, she believes they would’ve been someone that was already going to be close to Ashley. Still a dick move, but you see where she’s coming from(though it’s cause she has a misconception that Ashley is Cinderella)
Also, there were only 4 people at the party, him, Mildred, the empress dowager, and the countess. Him and Mildred are definitely in the clear since he didn’t spread it himself, and mildred would have no reason to spread it either, as it would just hurt her standings. That just leaves the empress dowager and the countess. However, he either knows that the empress dowager’s opinions have changed, or he just knows from her nature that she would never spread it too. That only leaves the countess, who I think is his mother(I forgot. Maybe remembered it wrong), so he should know her personality. Anyway, due to a process of elimination, the countess would be the only one that would spread those rumors.
regarding mildred introducing ashley first, she said in previous chapters she wanted to give attention to her daughters equally, so the she's rotating who gets introduced first,,,

anyway, past few chaps with queen and her attitude to milly. I would have never expected her to come into terms in understanding milly's situation let alone apologize to her. okay queen you win this round.
very disappointed with milly when she first introduced ashley instead of iris even though she's the eldest. there's probably some sort of complex going on with milly dead on making ashley get married first before the other two and iris is aware of her mother's idea. milly i know cinderella has to come first lest some evil vodoo falls upon you and your two girls but be fair. no favourites should be played among your children.
now the heart of my intrigue is the fairy. so in this world fairies are real and they give gifts apparently. much like in sleeping beauty where the 3 fairies give aurora gifts as a baby. casey seems like a good fellow but i honeslty dont trust any men so i bet he's up to no good. lily might just be happy that she got to dance with him and hopefully would not fall for him but who knows. he needs to prove himself tho since he has a gift from a fairy that makes him unlucky.
