facts. the traumas, social anxiety, and imperfections are depicted so well. no one can miraculously get over their trauma in a few days or weeks. it takes years, at least, to totally overcome it. i appreciated that detail by the author because it gives more depth to the character, and like you said, makes it more of an empowering and relatable story.
I know the character and her dark thoughts may be annoying when it goes on and on but you know a really understand what Maxi is feeling and i appreciate that the author did not try to make her miraculously fix her imperfections and traumas. I’ve been suffering from anxiety and depression due to my sickness and I also tend to get scared every time someone is nice to me. There were lots of moments that I teared up reading this because I could relate to her thoughts so well. I’m just happy for Maxi’s character finding a better home to live in. I don’t see this as just a quick romance read but a truly empowering story of a young woman coming out of her fears.
