Couldn't agree with you more, and the worse thing is that, if this manga progresses like many others, Aki will eventually give in to the guy with out him ever expressing any change of emotion or commitment; giving in to the egoist sadist without them giving anything similar back. Lets hope this character ends up showing some true humility, modesty, or real emotion to win the guy over, instead of just charming him into submitting.

I am really afraid of that too. I really don't know why in those kinds of stories characters like Aki have to change to be happy, not guys like Naruhito. Aki doesn't no anything wrong.
I'll sympathise with Aki's reservations as long as self-esteem is not his real reason, unless of course Naruhiko's somehow to blame for Aki's lack of it.

A good manga, or at least I think it is, that shows the seme change would be Aishuu. You should really check it out.
I have read "Aishuu" and liked this aspect of the plot. One of the few manga in which the uke knew how much was his own value and didn't accept to be poorly treated leading the seme to change his behavior. Not my favorite mangaka but still a pretty good read.
This kind of character really pisses me off. He profess his deep love but keeps fooling around. He can't keep his pants on for enough time to get an answer but still wants that his object of interest would trust him enough to accept his feelings? Without any guarantees? Bullshit.
