his mother was most important to him and he didnt care about the empire or his father. he dispise them since they always bullied his mother. so when she helped his mother in pain and let him spend her last moments with hims he is grateful and earned his trust... and when she says she wanted the empire destruction he honestly didnt care he was probably didnt care about if since in the original he was like a villan controling it behind the scene so her goals isnt much different from his.

uh dont entirely get it either,, but i think its bc charlize was the only person who truly showed compassion for his mom. remember how in her previous life, he made the the prince that attended his mom’s funeral into the crown prince?
ig it also helps that his mom recognized charlize and left dylan in her hands. he’s coping with his mom’s death by unhealthy attaching himself onto charlize (the person who dedicated herself to him with a knight’s oath and promised to be there for him). even though he might be a genius,, he’s still pretty young and needs guidance. charlize is the only one willing to give it.
