Her behaviour to be counted as racism is quite not right after all all her life before being adopted she was abused and her white/silver hair plays a part too and she's had only read about them in books.it was natural for her to be shocked and startled.
it’s not racism it’s simply discovering something new. new is always scary, especially when it comes to people.
the uncanny is this thing where you see something that looks normal but something is slightly off and it makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
so like here it would be when someone who’s only seem fair skinned people meets someone who’s darker- they just don’t seem normal to that person who’s always thought that light skinned was normal. that’s the reason people found humanoid demons so terrifying because of their human resemblance but that slight off-ness with horns or whatever.
this can happens visa vera, and works for other things like eyes. most people get shocked when they see people with lazy eyes for the first time or even something like a slightly bigger ear or different colour eyes or hair. that’s my take on the situation anyway ╮(￣▽￣)╭
