it gets annoying sometimes, reading comments full of hatreds.. can't we appreciate first before we complain? I dont really consider my self as an avid reader, but even I knew that I should welcome all possibilities of reading something I cannot agree with, but even though, I still dont show hate or aggressiveness to the author unless it was written fully to criticize something or hurt someone..
they are not related by blood.. but she is legally adopted by the duke (father).. If we based it on our belief/law this era, it will still be considered as incest since they are legally siblings.. however if we view it in their era, even royalties let their children marry their own flesh and blood to preserve the royal lineage..
just because it doesn't fit well with how we feel or how it is view in our era now, doesn't mean we have to invalidate it.. since it really become part of the past culture.. I am not saying it is right, or it is ok.. personally i am really against it in real life.. however no matter how much we despite it we cannot change the past.. and it's actually legal before..
And now, as to the reason why I had to explain it in our perspective now.. it is because, as someone who is from the 21st century, we are all educated and this topic is not also new to us.. we aren't ignorant of our past, our culture and the beliefs.. so I assume everyone should be open-minded when reading this type of stories.. though, not all but a lot of classic romance books that we read in school also tackles this kind of relationship..
I don't understand the hate.. this is all about preferential and how you perceive the story.. you see, you read about murder cases/ thriller/ action movies but no one would ever complain about hating the movie because killing is a crime.. a reader should know how to filter the information that they gain from reading.. you can disregard anything that doesn't fit your preferences or belief.. or you can also absorb and learn from it..
and lastly, if you doesn't really like it, no one is forcing you to read it anyways.. you can always drop it and move on to something you preferred.. just stop criticizing the author or the readers that enjoys it.. after all, it's called fantasy for a reason..
