I totally agree with you, but I have an idea why Anne died because of her. I think that Aideen became too soft when Anne was her maid, too much like a normal child. But she still needed to be an assassin for the emperor, so I think they ordered Aideen to kill her maid. But Anne might not have wanted to dirty her hands so she took her own life and made it look like Aideen killed her. I dunno just a thought I had when I saw them talking about the swords ╮(￣▽￣)╭
But what happened to jenna? I mean she had to have survived somehow to become aideen's maid.

She wouldn’t come later exactly since Anne was Jenna’s mother. So it’s likely that Jenna was already there. I feel like the Emperor took Aideen in AFTER the maid died. Didn’t she look healthy when we saw her meet him for the first time? Here she looks thin and sickly like they’ve been starving her.

Then I must have gotten the timing wrong. I thought Anne died when Aideen was already the emperors tool and that Jenna was then (as an orphan) also trained together with Aideen. but maybe I am totally wrong, was just a thought that I had ^^

5. I can’t think of a reason why her maid dying could be her fault. Seems like those situations where she’s not looking at it rationally. She died probably FOR her rather than BECAUSE of her.
