Its mainly because she is the one in charge of planning the wedding and if the Duke was free he may have left her be and planned the wedding himself. But he is not. His job is way more important than her logo , he has to help take care of an empire... if she doesn't plan the wedding there will be no wedding. She needs to set her priorities straight. If she was balancing her work wisely he would not have troubled her.

He is an obsessive duke. The free lady was meant as he's not going to let her be free from him, and that they will get married and follow the schedule no matter what. Ripley has the tendency to be running away, which makes him more determined to bind Ripley to him ASAP lol.
Hmmmm Idk why I'm starting to feel a little disconnected and off with the duke, at the start I really did like him as a ml, but with the latest chapter, I really don't like how he said those words about her being a free woman or smth. It doesn't really feel romantic or those ooh possessive male lead yum.
