it's never been confirmed but he acts exactly like someone on the autism spectrum and even has autistic traits that are lesser known (for example not recognizing faces)

No, he doesn't have autism. It was mentioned in the novel that he was checked if he had any kind of disorder, and the result was negative.
That was actually OCD which is a different disorder. It has never been confirmed that he has autism but he has all of the symptoms and his reactions are understandable when you know a bit about autism. He clearly isn't neurotypical because many neurodivergent people relate to him while neurotypicals think he is being annoying.
It’s very frustrating to watch his very important routines get disturbed or his behaviour get laughed at when he’s clearly someone who has autism. I don’t hate the love interest but I just wish he would stop being so aggressive in his approach.
