The angst was real here, 100% effective seeing as everyone is fired up for the ml to get incinerated.
But the overall story line?

There is sooooo many potential for a story like this but it feels way too dragged out of the line.
Coming back from reading the novel Gu yansheng still show signs of being abusive, even when confronting niannian, when his character development was supposed to be showing!
And dont even get me started at how insanely dumb nian nian was for choosing the trash shit in the end.
I can understand him not wanting to divorce, in order for that whore leech to not win, but come on-
