EXACTLY!!! a lot of people do be hating on Ettsen when the og princess literally destroyed his kingdom and for cheating with Yuriel when the og princess messes around with many other men that are not her concubine same goes for Robia he seriously loved the og princess but was tossed away istg those hate comments about this two stresses me out so much they just hate them without even caring about what the og princess did to them which is exactly the reason why they became like that
My exact point. OG Princess was with a bunch of men, MC is on the harem route, yet Ettsen and Robia who literally cheated to escape from a toxic relationship for a few moments are somehow at fault? Ettsen and Robia hands down are two of the 3 best characters in this webtoon, with MC being the third. Like I said, most readers want loyal soldiers, not equal partners or dynamic, interesting characters.

Singlehandedly remains one of my favourite characters, the other 2 being ofc our MC and Robia. He has more depth than the rest of the cast put together. TBH, the amount of casual victim blaming going on makes me real mad, because most readers seem to either want him to be a loyal dog licking the MC's feet, or to suddenly break out of an abusive relationship with ease.
For the 1st one, I don't even want to go into that because literally no one in this webtoon has suffered even a tenth of what he has. Name another character who's suffered the same amount as him, I'll wait. Even the MC, who's lost her world, has a support system while all Ettsen has is a toxic bitch who manipulates and gaslights him constantly. The other MLs have it so easy, because at one point they were all wooed by the OG Princess, or served under her, while Ettsen had his entire kingdom destroyed because some bitch got the hots for shim, his family killed and was repeatedly raped. Like bro, this guy has it bad.
For the 2nd one, I dunno how to tell you, but toxic relationships don't start out as glaringly toxic. Clearly, Yuriel was kind to him in the beginning, either because she was OG Yuriel at the time, or the Antagonist Yuriel was manipulating him. In a Palace where everyone is an enemy, a witness to his humiliation and violation, someone showing the slightest kindness to him must've felt like a dream. It was then, probably nothing surprising that he fell in love with her. But, now that Yuriel has revealed her true colours, and the Princess who was so cruel to him suddenly seems to show remorse and yet wants nothing to do with him are likely confusing him. Ettsen is not blind here: he clearly knows that both Yuriel and the Princess have changed. With Yuriel, he's likely staying out a sense of duty toward the woman he loves/d, and because he believes himself to be guilty for how she became and thus thinks he has a responsibility to stay with her. That, or he's hoping that she'll become good once again, since she's someone he used to love and doesn't want to lose. Either way, he's a victim of a toxic relationship in an enemy kingdom, and unlike most victims of abuse, he seems to realise he's in an unhealthy relationship so kudos to him for that. With the Princess, since MC came into her body, her interactions with Ettsen have been difficult. She is not the one who ruined his life, yet because of her moral conscience, she must bear and deal with his hatred. She's done an okay job so far, but the one scene where she cried in front of the tree, next to Ettsen, while showing her sympathy, was a rather callous thing to do in front of Ettsen. While she meant no harm, her crying basically stated that she regretted what happened to Ettsen, but then, what about his feelings. He has been through so much pain because of the Princess, and now she seems to regret her actions? Then what was the point of his suffering? She bears him no ill-will but wants him to go his separate way, thus absolving herself of something that wasn't her fault, but in Ettsen's mind seems like her just discarding him after draining him dry and taking no responsibility for it. All of his suffering was for naught and he's exhausted. The Princess who was cruel to him is now distantly sympathetic and kind, the woman he loved turned out to be a cruel snake, and he's drifting with no purpose, no support, no kingdom and no love. He's tired. He wants nothing to do with the people who ruined his life, wants to choose a future filled with love, and yet he is being dragged back because of Yuriel. He doesn't even want revenge, he just wants to be loved and live in peace. Yet, he's being denied that. I hope he can pluck up the courage and strength to leave Yuriel, or is helped by someone who cares for him.
I truly hope that the webtoon gives him a satisfactory ending where's he's deeply loved by whomsoever suits him best, but I hope that he doesn't just become one of the MC's conquests among her harem of MLs, because frankly, he deserves so much more. The writing so far has been extremely good, so I have high hopes. Also, I want Yuriel to die painfully, mainly because of what she's doing to Ettsen.ヾ(☆▽☆)
