My impression is it has become very sappy melodramatic and nobody is really blaming the father/previous emperor... Elise has become literally such pure innocent angelic saint who needs to cry and suffer for the dark haiired ML...
I can say for sure started to question the fantasy romance trope: ML has to be a cold royal prince with tragic past, FL is has to be the ideal innocent virginal figure/doormat, Falling in love with your murderer/executioner again, pro monarchy drama etc...
