i think it might be because she exuted the brother... and maybe that same pink haired jerk was close to him and persuaded the crown prince to take back him rights and didn't think that the emperor will name the successor our emperres.

He’s just shocked that she killed the other prince. It makes him sad and shocked. She’s explained why she has to do that and he understands. They’re are pretty close because they have same mother. furthermore he gave up the crown and nominated her to be crown princess. So no power struggle or anything like that between them. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
