I’m not sure what the reason for that is, but I do know that this is based on a novel (which i started to read but haven’t finished, i think i stopped reading like right where these translations ended)
I read somewhere that the both of them met as children under an oak tree and the ml decided to become someone good enough to stand next to her becaus i dont remeber clearly but i think she was sad so he thought she resembled him(not in appareancens) and decided to make her happyヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~

In novel he once says about rumours in past about maxi the daughter of ???(or what was her house name ) that she was such a beauty and fragile cuz she never visited any party's XD . And one knight sneak into thier house to see her hahah but we all know he talked about himself .
