keep in mind he’s new to this whole courting thing. The previous relation he had with the FL was just paper no emotions. I’m assuming he fell in love with the FL after they got married the first time but never knew about it personally as he’s pretty dense. He wanted to protect her which was why he told her to quit the job. Pretty sure he feared that the FL will be taken advantage of.
i know he grew to love her when they were married (after a while) but that doesn’t excuse his actions right now
he’s just being invasive imo like he’s just too controlling at this point
