Yes, we all like papa Claude now, but pretending that he was deceived and accepting the chimera girl as his 'real' daughter is not a smart move, and also he kinda used the chimera girl to kill his true daughter which is Athy, it's no more than stupidity.
We all know that the Athy in the novel, the one who read the novel, and the reincarnated are one, therefore basically it's the same person.
Yes true it’s a pretty stupid move. However this is a new life, a chance for him to make up for his mistakes even though what he did is unforgivable. We have to keep in mind how the black magic he used on himself made him stop feeling emotions and forget (of course he’s the one at fault for that) On top of that, that damn chimera used her black magic for Claude to ‘love her’

in the first life Claude did know about the chimera not being his biological daughter and yes he did keep her around to ease the pain but that things black magic made Claude not want to let her go and do things against his will and added to the curse magic he used on himself and of course that led him to his death. BUT in the third life athy came in earlier when the black magic he used on himself was rather weak he said it himself “one more year and I would’ve forgotten about that wench” something among does lines. So yeah that chimera’s magic makes people do things against their will and make them be irrational. For example like loving her forcefully and ignore all logic(╯°Д °)╯╧╧
