I found that really curious as well... But I think if the comments are anything to go by, it's because the other characters are unlikeable to some degrees, so he's the best choice to the other readers by default? (Compared to Wifey with her cheating, overly horny chicken boy, yandere pink hair chick).
Though opinions seem divided regarding the wife and chicken boy. Personally I don't hate chicken boy, cos being the recent virgin he was, he might have just attached himself to Wifey, with her being the one to seduce him first, later mistaking the sex would mean something more? He may even have thought the wife was in an abusive/neglected relationship (since she thought to cheat in the first place) and that his feelings of "love" might be/become mutual? Though i dont condone when he forced her to do it once (if i remember correctly) but I thought that was the way the usual ecchi (or even yaoi) goes

even that old hyung of him took a lot of ages before he understand that having family and a baby can soften an assassins stone heart. Just enjoy the story for now its still in progress. The manhwa will end at once if he falls inlove with wife forgive her have a baby and they live happily ever after... the end
To answer your first question, I liked Kenshin because we got to know him as the person he reformed to become after his dark past as a killer. In Ha-Jin's case, we're not really getting to see much of him apart from the brief scene in his past where he was hesitant to kill, and his current emotionally-detached killer personality. So (while yes he is pretty attractive) I don't really know much about him to like him as a character yet. Though that will soon be unfolded as the manhwa goes on :) Can't wait to see if he actually loves his wife, or whether there was a reason he's married to her (maybe as a cover so that people dont suspect him for being an assassin?)
And yeah, he may reform like his mentor did, and it may be because of his wife.
So far into reading this, I personally do not like his wife, so I hope she gets her shit together...
