What is the BeBoy investigation?
That would be awesome, being able to think of Viewfinder 24/7 ♡♡♡
Whatever the situation of Asami's parents, Asami does not seem to have been raised in an emotionally healthy environment (just my opinion). I say this because, for a 35 year old, Asami is a bit emotionally immature at times, not to mention that he did rape Akihito and as far as we know never felt remorse about it or apologized for it. Ok fine, the rape was back in chapter 1 and this is a yaoi manga where rape generally seems to equal Love, but still...I wouldn't want to be caught alone in a room with a guy like Asami o_O
I think you have to be able to suspend disbelief if you want to enjoy that part of the story. In real life, consent is needed and my safe word is "No" (followed by an applied sign language message which may be painful). In fiction, sometimes I can believe there is someone who can make me quiver and shake against my will, and overwhelm my senses so I can't think, because he magically knows what I want even when I deny it, and his every touch is pleasure. This may allow me to safely explore things a "good" girl would not, or it may be a sort of "coming of age" seduction. It's a device in fiction--and the fact that it is fantasy makes it safe for me--but I understand it is not for everyone.
In real life, I am against anyone seeing rape as an act of passion, since it is really about power and control. If real people want to engage in rape play, they need to talk about it before hand, have a safe word, and establish aftercare (just as with BDSM in general). No real person can actually know what you want without you telling him or her, so no real person can do what a fictions S lover may do.
It's cool if you don't like that part of the story, but to me it looks like Aki was enjoying it (if reluctantly at first) and started to crave it (e.g.masturbating after seeing Asami). In fiction, rape can play many roles it wouldn't in real life--just like rape fantasy in someone's daydreams. It doesn't mean a person would want someone she or he didn't choose to take control in an unwanted way. It's just that some people enjoy the fantasy of being able to lose control in a safe setting with an idealized lover who can drive us to ecstasy. If you look at it as getting permission to be bad, it can be kind of empowering. The important thing is that you, the reader, has all the actual control and power.
This manga is 12 years old by now. awhile back I forget who said Sensi said chap. 1 was written for an S&M mag as a one shot only. She was not expecting it to go any where. The rape in chap. 1 was punishment for Takaba trying to take down Asami's business dealings. He was set up by the crooked cop.(Takaba) According to the poster she said if she knew it was going to be popular, she would have done some things differently.I would give credit but don't recall the poster. When Asami leaves Jpn. his name his never recorded as having left. Asami maybe his registered name, but not his family name. It is was not unusual for the new head of the clan to take on new a name as part of the ritual when a new one took over.(OLD days). Then again he could be so rich he just does not go through the normal check out.(private plane)
Finder will be celebrating 15 years of serialization next month. Yamane-sensei has a special extra lined up for it. And Asami is not the head of any clan...
Do we know for sure Asami doesn't head a clan of some kind? I know it's unlikely he is actually wizard, but I kind of like the thought him being head of a family that runs many types of businesses. I thought his business was a mystery and therefore could be part of an enterprise run by a clan. I am afraid I am probably reprehensible for the Asami may run a powerful clan speculation (it's just a wild theory, such as I like but I didn't think it had been ruled out). Its possible I missed something tough. It happens. :)
Replace "reprehensible" with "inconsistent." We can derive no evidence of a good relationship between Aki and his parents even though Aki mentions them affectionately and there is textual substantiation that at least as far as his job goes, his father has been supportive, but we can assume a mysterious clan for Asami even though there has been absolutely zero hint, mention, or intimation of any kind to suggest such a thing. Has it been ruled out? No. But if that's the basis of the argument, we could also say that Asami is probably a world-class Jello wrestler in his spare time. That hasn't been ruled out, either.
Come on. If there was a clan, we'd have had a whiff of it by now. It's not his business that's a mystery but his background, where he came from. I'd be more willing to buy that he walked away from or destroyed a clan in order to operate on his own that to believe there is some vast but heretofore completely invisible clan perfectly willing to remain invisible and silent and let Asami handle everything. That's not how clans work. Unless they're all dead. Which, again, would make a little more sense.
Sometimes I wonder: In that chapter which Asami is talking with Kuroda about the "superiors", who can be these persons? (powerful politicians, secret services?). Kuroda doesn't look like a corrupted prosecutor in my opinion.
LOL actually auto-fill foiled my attempt at "responsible". I am consistent in saying people all have their own interpretations of what they read, and that speculations can vary even more than interpretations.
There is a difference between interpretation and speculation, but both can vary greatly depending on the reader. In essence "we" can do whatever we want in terms of speculation as long as it is not contradicted on the page (unless we acknowledge the contradiction, and then everything is fair game). Also "we" don't have to conform to each other--there can be your POV and my POV, and that's cool. But we should be aware that everyone interprets what's on the page, and some of us also speculate.
Everyone interprets what she sees and reads, even if she is not aware she is doing it. For example, there can be differences regarding whether someone thinks Aki's mention of his parents is particularly "affectionate" or implies a "close" relationship. The fact on the page is that Aki mentions his parents. What we infer from that fact is a matter of interpretation. People interpret things differently because our brains are subjective by nature. Everyone does not speculate, but everyone interprets what is on the page--and interpretations differ.
Speculation differs from interpretation in that it is a "what if?" proposition. So *I* have some speculations and pet theories, which may be "wrong" to you but that I like to bounce around. If you want to speculate about jello wrestling, go ahead--I won't stop you. I think that Asami's business may fit into a Zabatsu style group or clan, but *you* don't have to. I have reasons, but it is *speculation*. You may not think it is good speculation, but I will have to wait and see what may or may not be revealed in the future before I choose to scrap it (or not). As long as there is no fact (and not merely an interpretation of fact) to contradict it, it's fine. I'll grant you some speculation may be more likely than others, but each reader determines for herself what speculation she thinks makes sense in context of the story (if she speculates at all).
It's cool that you see things your own way. Interpretations may differ. speculations may differ. But unless something conflicts with an actual *fact* (and not merely your interpretation of what's on the page), one is as good as another.
Life and let live.

Going on pure speculation (because we have nothing else to go on), why do you think we do not see anything about Asami's parents and only hear about Aki's parents in passing?
I wonder if it's possible Aki's parents are divorced. A long time ago, someone in a discussion on another yaoi (I forget who to credit and I forget the manga) explained to me that in Japan, when custody is awarded after a divorce the child usually loses the other parent. It's not like in the US where they usually have visitation schedules and there is a push for joint decision making about things such as education and healthcare. So, if Aki's parents were divorced, it would explain why his dad didn't get involved until Aki got into trouble as a teen, and maybe why Aki lists his mother by her first name in his phone instead of by the Japanese equivalent of "Mom". Of course, they do not have to be divorced, but it would explain why there is no united family present in Aki's day to day life, and why no one expects Aki to come home for the holidays.
Speaking of holidays, it seemed to me like Asami was completely alone on New Year's. I assume Kirishima and Souh have the day off to visit loved ones. Asami takes the time to sleep in. It doesn't look like he had plans until Aki started calling him. Do you think Asami's parents could be dead? Or did they abandon him (or vice verse)? Even an alpha male seme should visit his mother at least once a year, right? Of course, Asami didn't visit Kuroda either, which might blow my theory about them being brothers or half brothers, but if they have different mothers, Kuroda could be visiting his mom. Can you imagine parents showing up in Asami's life and having opinions as to what Asami does? Or do you think he is probably and orphan?
