There was this show on Netflix called The Sinner, and the main guy was talking about how when you hold something precious in your hands, like a cat or a child, in the back of your mind you know that you hold domain over that life, despite the dark thought, you won't do anything about it. It's similar to the feeling where you get the sudden urge to jump out of a moving car and for a fleeting second you could imagine what would have happened if you actually followed that impulse. Maybe during his drunken state his darkest thought manifested. Maybe he recently broke up with his boyfriend and did that in blackout and his sudden thank you made him snap.
bro this though. the human mind is fucked up. warped nature doesn't justify any crimes committed, but to ignore the instability of a human is a sin itself. i hope the manga goes this route and doesn't proceed ignore the dark realities of what happened.
yeah, unfortunately we can only guess as to what his reasoning was, because as he said, he doesn't remember what he did because he was black out drunk which kind of sucks. BUT it would be cool if he remembered!
