First of all, I think she misunderstood why her father gave her a sword or dagger, I think it was to protect herself, and the crown prince come to rescue her since he was the discipline of the duke, she was scared that think that he would torture her. we could see that he said he has no "weakness" assuming he doesn't also care for the princess, since I think they have different birth moms and he hated the emperor. When she said she was neglected, I think she just came by the wrong time on and the duke was look for something possibly for her own sake too.... yeah yeahhhh daddyyyyy
