He's no different from how the story explains. He really doesn't know right from wrong and that's so scary. What change him in the story was him being told right from wrong. I don't like him either both these guys are possessive in a harmful way but one is just more honest and that makes him a bit less scary and looks more friendly possessive instead. Idk really
