Okay so since a lot of people have been wondering, the father is not a piece of shit. In the past life he was trying to protect her and in order to find the real culprit (the one who poisoned the princess) he had to lock up so no one could harm her. He gave her the knife to protect herself and the ML(the prince) was trying to save her when he went to find her. (It’s all a huge misunderstanding) The reason the father doesn’t show affection to Beatrice is because the fucking emperor. If the emperor knows how much he cares about Beatrice he will try and use her against him and harm Beatrice. He is just trying to protect her, and in order to do that the emperor has to think that he doesn’t have any feelings for his daughter. And there are also a lot of enemies who hate the duke so he is also trying to save her from his enemies. A lot of people are going to hate on the dad for not showing Beatrice attention but he was just trying to protect her the best way he could.
