i think it's just because the anime is only at the beginning of the manga where it's wasn't as intense, they've also had to cut smaller scenes, intense or not, to make the episodes

to an extent it feels like they are censoring it to make it more kid friendly?
the anime has is at the part where shiki is remembering what happened to his mom and yk reading it was intense and mortifying and i feel like the anime wasn’t there with that build up of emotion and trauma
that's true, they might be censoring it so that they can appeal to a larger audience and make more profit
the manga comes off a lot more intense and disturbing than the anime portrays
