I’m so confused

Why did the father’s attitude do a complete 180? Also she should have been honest to the dad from the first time he showed affection and invited her to the lunch. I’d be cowering but also sobbing because I was longing for ANY kind of affection from that gorgeous man.

And in the chapter where he decides to come home earlier than expected, he acted as if he never caught wind of his daughter’s loneliness from him constantly being away. He was fucking absent for her birthdays, holidays and her freaking debutante!! Wtf!!!?

Noble facade. It's clear the villain of the first timeline is the king and also the aristocrats who wants them (duke vs king) to clash (like the count guy who visits the king). First timeline was a frame up. King was testing the waters if duke will rebel. Duke suggested her daughter to stay on that prison (which is rumored no one can enter for her safety) as a net he gave her a dagger to protect herself. But the child misunderstood it. CP enter the prison on a pretense to torture her (not true) I bet he was there to rescue her. It seems CP was patiently waiting for the Duke to come to his side so his coupdetat will not fail. The princess use the excuse that she was poisoned to hit two stones (duke and crown prince). I think the aristocratic faction is led by her ex the marquis and you know what kind of ending will happen if they prevail. Puppet government.

Spoiler: it’s cause he actually loves his daughter and the king is using that as blackmail against him. He’s trying to protect her!! Also, it’s revealed in the novel that he gets nightmares/visions on what happened in their past life and he vows to change
