Well they were step brothers, they were raised together from a young age as siblings. Which why it’s kinda incest like. Would have been less weird had they not been raised together from a young age.
But I personally choose to ignore the fact that they were step siblings. Literally block out that fact while reading.

Step siblings aren’t childhood friends tho. They’re legally your sibling. Which is why it’s still technically incest.
Legally...ofcourse that's what makes them "step-siblings", but they're not related by blood and are also able to legally marry because of this so technically and scientifically it is not incest. But the morality of this topic is a whole different subject, it is subjective and varies from case to case. Their parents are married but why should that stop a person from loving another? If their feelings are pure and true then it shouldn't be others place to judge.
