Ok so I get what happened but I don’t get it.... Like - I get it but I don’t fully understand. How did she get hired? Why were there more chapters? Was it before the architects house? Or after the house?

1. I think it was explained in the story the daughter was reading at the end. It’s a story about a mom punishing her kids because she’s sick of them.
2. It was before the architect house bc she says she’s planning on becoming a maid there

To add to this, the father explained how he completely fucked over the mother's true love so that he could get her money.

So I'm thinking that the mother's story about kittens wasn't just about the kids, but also the father
