I think she's waiting because of some plot of the novel involving her brother, the rebel demons and her possible death. If I'm not wrong she wants to use the stepmother's schemes and expose her when the time is right and when she has enough proves.

I don't get it?? why do you have to be patient?? if you get rid of them, your brother could take over and that's it. Right?? The two of them aren't very powerful, the stepsister has no ounce of the duke's blood in her so she's kinda of a nobody. The stepmother could be easily exposed, and the lil step brother is young and sweet. Is it hard?
