That wouldn't make very sense. The whole point of this is both hideto and the people who knew him having closer, because his death was so
unexpected. If he had commited suicide that would have meant that he had planned his death, and if that was the case he would have more than time to say his goodbyes and resolve all of his unfinished businness.
The whole point of hideto getting struck by lightning is to show how fragile life can be, and that really unexpected situations can happened, leaving behind all this unfinished businness that maybe at the time you didn't give them much importance but once you are confronted with your own death everything is re-evaluate.
And I think that is the real reason why hideto is "haunting" Yuugen, because he doesn't want him to die with regrets like he did.

i don't think you know how suicides can work. suicide isn't always planned. it can be a spur of the moment thing. people can get into arguments with their families or whoever and decide to kill themselves that very day. it's not uncommon. a suicide would have been even more unexpected cause no one would have thought hideto, the smiling and joyous guy, to off himself. and a lot of the time, people who commit suicide don't resolve their "unfinished business," many of them go quietly, as to not "cause a fuss," or to worry people.
i guess that could be the case ? although i cant 100% agree with you cause i've only read the two chapters supplied here.

?? i don't get what you mean by that. im saying if hideto committed suicide, it didn't have to be planned. as suicides, a lot of the times, aren't. when i said that, i was mostly referring to "telling their goodbyes" and as i said before, suicides are common to not be planned. so obviously if it wasn't planned, and just a spur of the moment thing, a reaction, he wouldn't have had time to do those things.
i know this is gonna sound kinda awful but i feel like it would have more impact if hideto killed himself ya know ? like after the first chapter that's what i legit thought happened. and once it was revealed he got struck by lightning, it was just kind of .. a let down. (it would also have been more, like, challenging (? idk what word to use soz) towards how yuugen thought cause he said something about hideto being all happy and shit right ? and "enjoying life." idk would have made for an interesting juxtaposition. also a commentary on how people's appearances and actions may just be a cover for how they actually feel and think.) idk i guess the author didn't want it to be as cruel and tragic ? or didn't see it in his character to do that ? idk, just what i thought.
