I think it's the author's own definition of ugly
I also think that's why their characters were made to view these features as ugly, or.. It's just the author's plan for them to see females like that as ugly since that is also how the human society views people irl
Oh my god... The other females are DARK... like.. wtf Merman! And SHE WANTS TO KILL A TURTLE??? Okay, note to self, "not being skinny, fair skinned and freckles is ugly." FML.... TOXIC MALES are just piling up like plastics in the ocean.
