in chapter 2 there's a small note like this: dom: top, sub: bottom. i REALLY hope that note was from the translator and not the author. dom and sub has NOTHING to do with being top or bottom. dom is the dominant. the one who takes control and inflict the pain (if it's this kind of play) and the sub is the one who will be submitting to it, be it pain or humiliation or whatever. a sub can be a top and a dom can be a bottom. i wanted to let it clear for the people who get it confused.
