So wtf

It is a fact that a reader's opinion is hugely impacted by whose POV the story is told, because I can't believe ppl are justifying Jeonghan's shttyness. You can acknowledge he did help Iljo even tho he didn't have to, but do not deny he's overdoing it for his sick superiority complex.

Some go as far as saying Iljo is indeed just a broke, jobless man in his thirties to prove he is pathetic and helpless while taking it lightly that he endured a hard life with no one by his side, so they can justify that Jeonghan is not doing anything wrong.

Iljo grew up in hiding because he's an illegitimate child. When his only ally - his father - got sick, he was the one who took care of him. I think a lot of you are sheltered & privileged because some of you don't understand it's hard to take care of a bedridden patient (a loved one, too!!) while having no financial support. This was also the reason he couldn't get a decent job. I mean, he can't take shifts and lock his dad in a room without no one to monitor him. And after all his sacrifices, he didn't get even a penny from his father's last will & testament. He had to restart life with no foundation, already old, and no one to support him. Jeonghan knows this, but he doesn't cut Iljo some slack - and that's honestly fine, but then again he was the one who insisted to take Iljo in when Iljo already refused. Iljo was in a position he needs all the help he can get so I get why he would agree when asked multiple times.

About the creepy kiss, Jeonghan was rightfully disturbed and it was right to kick Iljo out, but we all know Iljo got sick so it's not happening yet. This was where he started to show his sick personality. He knew what happened to Iljo's life to an extent, and he had a grasp of Iljo's personality, but he find it pleasurable that he can make Iljo uncomfy by giving him things he know Iljo couldn't afford. He admitted it himself - he liked seeing Iljo helpless. Jeonghan is not straight, it was mentioned when he was drinking with his friends, that he got together with guys, too. So he's not making Iljo struggle mentally with his "kindness" because he is homophobic, he literally just likes it. He likes seeing someone have a hard time because he is privileged. You can't see anything wrong with that? You think it's in his right to act that way to a person he knows is already fcking struggling??? A lot of us likes to help ppl because we like to feel nice sometimes, but do you also enjoy seeing people helpless??

I honestly thought this would be a fluffy read, but I am staying because in a fiction's perspective, it is interesting that we're seeing the story through Jeonghan's eyes - who is a person with not so pleasant views. I like him as a character, but I acknowledge he is a piece of shit. Do not justify his actions. He is realistic alright, a realistic douchebag.

Fck, this was an essay. I didn't notice haha

I've seen a loved one in similar situations with Iljo and seeing ppl downplay his hard life is infuriating

I agree when my grandmother got sick me and my mom had to take turns staying home; her from work and me from school. It was hard and sadly to pay bills and not be held back we had to put her in a home which to this day we still regret, miss that lady she was my best friend.

Very much agree with the points of your "essay" :), I think it's really on point.

Actually I was so frustrated with the topic at hand, I ultimately ended up writing one as well (T▽T) I suppose the manhwa is doing a really good job storywise in that sense, considering it's gripping and inspiring actual strong emotions and empathy like this.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I understand why you & your mom chose a very hard decision. It's a very difficult situation and you guys did what you could. I hope you guys have learned to forgive yourselves :')

That, too! Little Iljo was really bubbly back then and he was happy to meet a potential friend but Jeonghan was a little ass to him, and it seems he brought that attitude into adulthood. He has a lot learn about human decency. I'm excited how the author is going with this
