Not even natural grown apples are that small. Sure there is small types of apples but not that small. Okita may just be big which makes the apple look smaller.

Nope. There's definitely a strain of apple that people like for candy apples that is particularly small in comparison to the run of the mill MacIntoshes and Granny Smiths you see in the grocery store. Google isn't being helpful but I've seen them this small in real life. Don't remember seeing them in Japan, tbh, but frankly wouldn't be surprised.

I know of small red apples (smaller than granny smith). My aunt buys them to eat a healthy diet. She hates apples so the smallest is best for her. You should look at a fruit and vegetable market instead of a groceries store.

candy apples aren't actually apples. they're usually sweet candies covered in a red coating that gives it a sweet/sour flavor when you bite into it. they're pretty popular in some parts of japan and china to the best of my knowledge. i had one where five or six of them were served on a stick and it was popular dessert treat among children.

Did not know that since our candy apples are actual apples covered with caramelized sugar.
