Wait what *confusion *

I was also pretty confused but I reread it and it kinda makes sense? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure they end up together and fast forward they're out of highschool, the main characters are together (I didn't see it at first but his head is on the other mc's lap in the last panel) and the best friend is third wheeling.
