In the past, the main character (black-haired guy) had a friend who was gay and who liked him. Thus, the main character freaked out when he saw the blonde guy leaning over a railing, looking like he's about to fall down.

The blonde guy seems to have had traumatizing experiences with people who found out about his sexual orientation in the past (just like the main character's friend), so blondie freaked out when the main character woke up while blondie was kissing him. He was afraid that the main guy would despise him, ridicule him, scorn him, etc., just like everyone else who found out about his homosexuality. So, this is the exact reason why he's never opened up to anyone in his high school (until now, that is)--it's why he always plays the loner, since he figures that it's better to be alone than to have lots of friends who'll turn against you the moment they find out who you really are.
