Hon, you have to remember that in Manga/Anime that a haircut is a magical thing~
It's like literally shifting a character's personality as the haircut is literally a window to the character's souls, as much as their eyes and colors. I agree, he did switch like wtf but that's all in the power of hairstyle changes XD

Dang I’ve had many hair cuts but I don’t feel power or any change I feel quite stupid especially if I don’t like my hair style. This is why I’ll never be popular haaaa ohh well only in my dreams
