Going off their past, it seems that when they date they argue about trivial things like at the end there with the schedules and then it never got resolved because Taichi would never say sorry if he wrong. Although now it looks like he's changed a bit. Jealousy was probably also a thing that broke them up and is probably the reason Taichi was fighting saying anything about the phone call.

Just one thing i don't understand how they don't work as a couple. Your best friend can also be your boyfriend/girlfriend at the same time
