Yeah seriously. Though I wouldn’t say the ML is the best, he certainly isn’t the worst. BL has way more controversial scenes or scenarios but a lot of fujoahi just let it pass cause they want canon. Yet, when it comes to shoujo, they hate it and I don’t understand. The double standards are way out of proportion.

Here ML maybe he didn’t rape her but he is just as toxic as them, he controls her in everything and forces himself on her, doesn’t give her any freedom whatsoever and he purposely let her get hurt so she would “learn her lesson”. He literally forced her to be his concubine, n even wife but concubine. That’s so fucking offensive.
She would b dead if he didn’t accept her as a concubine since the king was going to kill her or force her to marry him tht was the main reason she first ran away also back in the day no concubine could get out of the palace it was tradition n when she left him on the wedding day he didn’t chase her he let her go n when she encountered a problem with the guy with red sting he saved her on the last episode he left her cuz he was jealous he wasn’t expecting his disciple to torture her he just thought she was going to b in the body of a cat a a lil longer if u read the previous episodes he says tht his disciple loves the cat so she wont be in danger if she’s capture he wasn’t expecting his disciple who he know for probably more thn 100years to hurt her.
When she was on a run she was fine tho, problems started accusing again when he forced her to become his concubine, if he cared he could’ve taken her for his wife or discipline. Why concubine? Yeah he did some stuff to help her, but in a way he also ruined her life since she started having problems again because of him. I also don’t like how she became after this whole fiasco, she used to be strong and independent female lead and as much as I understand that she doesn’t have a power to stand up for them, I think just like idk going along with it isn’t exactly an only option. I feel like she became very submissive and I like how dominant she was. He was also forceful not only with their relationship stuff but also skinship with her, she’s young in age even if her body got a big older, she still looks like a kid. I just feel like he’s really toxic and if he wanted to redeem himself after this incident or ever like cared about her he should’ve given her choice but he still controls everything and controls her if she does something he doesn’t like. He’s toxic and him helping her few times doesn’t excuse that. He’s still selfish and doesn’t care much about her choices, if he did he would’ve given her a choice of freedom, but he never had. Back in the day a concubine was like a wife it was the main wife n thn the concubine but at tht time he didn’t love her n he didn’t want to get a female disciple so he chose tht one which saved her life n he thought he could protect her tho he chose the wrong way to go about it his intentions weren’t bad
It wasn’t really like a wife it was like a mistress. And not wanting a female discipline is kinda sexist. Yeah maybe he had good intentions but definitely acted wrong about it, he still treated her disrespectful and like an object. And I really hate that
