for japan yes. the aging system is different so they are usually two years older. he’s around 18 if we go by US and around 20 if you go by Japan :))
i agree that tiktok has some influence. i’ve used this site on and off for many years and there’s been a change in comments and sensitivity more recently.

nothing to do w the og comment, but that way of counting is apparently old and traditional. I've been taught it's not really relevant or used anymore. So when they say 18, they usually mean 18 both in japan and in the us

i honestly don’t see how this was grooming. yes the uke is in high school but he is still around 18. i just don’t think y’all should throw that word around unless you think this was manipulation/abuse. also remember just because there’s an age gap doesn’t make it grooming anyone can be a groomer. personally i think it was cute and the seme was very respectful, he refused to have sex and understood that their relationship would be frowned upon. he wasn’t forceful and when he confessed he went to another room so the uke could think. age gaps are always a touchy subject but i think as long as the younger party isn’t under 17 and the older party is respectful and caring there is nothing wrong. ofc more factors go into my views but that’s a big one. it’s all about consent and the uke never said no or pushed the seme away. so i have no complaints.
