Yeah im not buying your explanation. That term has been used in the PAST as a way to label someone with mental disabilities but is now used CURRENTLY as DEROGATORY term. Using the r-slur hurts people who DO have mental disabilities and is actually a way of bullying them; thus, the term is ABLEIST. Please learn to respect a person regardless of who/what they are.
Please, educate yourself before labeling me as ‘one of those people’ who you so deeply have a problem with. Please stop the usage of that word because it is harmful. It is for the same reason we dont say the n-word because we are not black. The c-word because we are not asian (specifically east asian). The f-word because we are not gay/queer.
My comment is meant to educate, inform and spread awareness in how harmful and damaging it is to use that word in the daily.
